As a Grocery Department Manager, you will oversee all daily operations of the Grocery Department, drive sales and profitability, and ensure strong in-stock conditions, accurate pricing, and high merchandising standards. Main responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the Grocery Department with a focus on customer service, sales, and department readiness
- Deliver friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally
- Ensure shelves, displays, and aisles are clean, full, front-faced, and merchandised to company standards
- Execute planograms, promotional sets, seasonal transitions, and weekly ad merchandising
- Manage ordering, inventory levels, product rotation, and backroom organization
- Monitor shrink and implement procedures to reduce waste and loss
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and operational standards
- Hire, train, coach, schedule, and develop grocery associates while fostering a positive team environment
We are looking for candidates who possess the following:
Soft skills:
- Strong customer-service focus with a visible team presence
- Effective communication, coaching, and team-building skills
- Strong organization, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Competencies:
- Grocery merchandising and planogram execution
- Inventory management, ordering, and shrink control
- Labor planning, scheduling, and performance management
- Operational standards, food safety, and compliance execution
Knowledge:
- Grocery product flow, rotation, and inventory control
- Retail merchandising and promotional execution
- Store systems and ordering tools
Abilities:
- Ability to analyze sales, labor, and inventory data to drive results
- Ability to train, coach, and develop associates
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry products and work in coolers and freezers
- Travel requirements: None
- Other requirements: Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays; reliable attendance; compliance with company safety policies and Code of Business Conduct
